Ranching is a business that combines centuries old traditions and modern day technologies. Most ranchers still gather cattle by horseback the same as the cowboys on the cattle drives from Texas. But most ranchers also use GPS and satellite maps. Ranchers brand their cattle the same as they did one hundred years ago but today they also vaccinate with modern vaccines and use electronic ear tags so the cattle are healthier and traceable as they move from place to place.

My goal is to take a common sense and practical approach to using time tested methods of the past with the efficiencies of modern technology.

I consult with you to determine your goals for your ranch, determine how to achieve those goals, prioritize the goals and create a timeline to complete the goals. Using a systems approach to the different components of the ranch, I assess the best methods of operating the ranch to achieve your goals.

Over the years I have networked and used many advisors for my own ranch.  I know experts in grazing systems, farming techniques, wildlife management, marketing cattle, assessing machinery needs and acquiring equipment, riparian management, government licenses and permits and anything else that could arise. If you need to do it and I don't know the answer will find some one that does.

Phil Rostad is a fourth generation rancher on the same ranch that my great grandfather started in 1895.  I have learned the lessons of sucessful ranch practices from my ancestors and from my own experience of the last 30 years.  I can help set up a ranch operation with expertise in livestock, machinery, irrigation systems, wild life management, and riparian management to make your ranch meet your goals.
On site analysis of your operation and a hands on approach to address your desires as the landowner
to make your ranch like you want it to be.

Contact me and I will be happy to sit down with you and discuss your program.
